Creating Peace Through the Power of the Tongue

The bible says in Proverbs 18:12, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” From this we are told to guard our words or curses shall befall us. But how many Christians today still believe in the power of the tongue?

The Power of Words

From experience, I can tell you the power of the tongue is VERY real. Too often I have witnessed words said in the heat of anger or some other heated emotion come eerily to life. People absently wishing evil or good and having these things come to fruition.

No manifestation required!

And if you still doubt this testimony, take a hard look at your own life or the life of someone close to you. Have you or them ever uttered words that you can clearly see that you or they are now living? Don’t lie to yourself. You have probably said a few things that to this day you still regret.

A prime example of this was my sister wishing I would get in a car accident when driving. (Yeah, that happened.) I rebutted that my car would never get in an accident unless she was riding in it. As this was something that would never happen in my mind I didn’t worry about it until I loaned my mother the car and she picked up my sister with it.

That same day, you know what happened to them? They were in an accident. That is the power of the tongue. Words said as a curse to me then redirected back to the curser.

Bible verse Matthew 10: 20
When you put your faith in God, He controls your tongue

Is Manifestation the Same As Prayer?

Are you religious or are you spiritual? Because that’s basically what many manifestation gurus believe this question comes down to. But do they know the difference between being spiritual and religious? (Or is there even a difference?)

According to Mindvalley, there are six major differences between spirituality and religion. One of those being there are no rules in spirituality and you are to focus on love and your intuition. Huh? That sounds oddly familiar to the new testament of the bible and most religious texts.

As far as I can tell from their summation, the true difference is the lack of a cemented deity or God. All the other differences are from their perception of religion based on past heinous acts in the name of religion and present negative representations of various religions. Basically, they are avoiding defining God and being associated with their viewed negativity associated with God, the bible, and religion.

So, they manifest instead of praying. After all, who would they pray to when manifesting allows you to simply ‘create what you want’. Sadly, the universe is only God by another name and when they manifest a request once it aligns with the will of the ‘universe’, someone is going to answer.

Bible verse Proverbs 12: 18
This is how you create peace through the power of the tongue.

How Do You Create Peace Through the Power of the Tongue

Peace is not the only thing you can create through the power of the tongue. You can also bring your life and the lives of others to ruin if you are not careful about the words you say. This is where the grace of temperance comes in.

Self-control is the only way you can create peace through your words. Self-control allows you to think and use the spiritual gifts of discernment and wisdom. And through the grace of wisdom, you get the understanding that not everything is worth responding to or you learn to speak with God’s words.

And it’s very important for us as Christians to speak words that are directed by God and live as Jesus would. When we live according to religious doctrine and not according to God’s word we become those Christians that everyone wants to avoid. We create chaos and hate in the church and the world instead of living lives of peace and love.

Remember, a wise tongue brings healing. Through our words, let us show seeds of peace and unity instead of creating division among religious groups, churchgoers, and leaders. The children are watching and living what you have been teaching through your actions.

Bible verse 1 Corinthians 4: 20

“For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.” – 1 Corinthians 4: 20

Finding Peace in God in a Chaotic World

Spiritualists are seeking peace without God. And many will claim that they have found it within themselves by making themselves their own God. Taking care of the temples of their bodies and enlightening their minds.

And Christians are supposed to do the same thing! We are supposed to respect our bodies and feed it good food and not abuse it. We are supposed to feed our minds things aligned with spiritual and mental needs rather than empty entertainment.

Instead, we act as though God is the problem with our indiscipline because He has put arbitrary rules on our lives. So we eliminate God and turn to find our answers through our own efforts never asking the real question, who gave us the power to do the limitless things we do? Who is the one providing the knowledge and instinct that drives each and every one of us?

Why fool yourself? Whether you want to call Him, Her, It, or Them by another name, it is still a higher authority and it is still God. And I always believe in cutting out the middleman and going directly to God to find my peace.

Do you know the God I serve? He is the Almighty Everliving God that created the heavens and the earth. The one who cares from the smallest of us to the largest. The one who is my constant comforter and the supplier of all my needs. My Loving Father And Fierce Protector.
