Bringing Heaven to Earth

There is nothing wrong with longing for heaven. After all, it is your reward for being a good Christian. And although we are called to focus on godly things, is it right to ignore the troubles of mankind because they are not Christian?

Is it right for heaven to be your only motivation to do good?

Is Heaven Your Only Motivation to Do Good on Earth?

Heaven may be our reward and the major motivation, but it is our only motivation?

I hope it’s not!

If we are only motivated to do good as Christians because we want to go to heaven then that defeats the whole purpose of being a good Christian. It’s like going to work only for the paycheque. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to earn money but it should not be the only motivation to get up in the morning.

If you only care about getting rewarded then you won’t see other benefits of doing the work such as meeting new people, helping others, learning a new skill, or finding your own joy in life. And God wants us to be happy here on Earth. It’s the whole point of creating a paradise for us in the first place.

So why are we only focused on our eternal paradise, not the one we already live in? Have you looked at the Earth? Yes, it looks like a paradise. That’s because Earth is no longer a paradise and we only have ourselves to blame.

God separates us by the goodness of our hearts and our trust in Him, not by place, people, or race.

Creating Hell on Earth

Sometimes, I think we are dead set on creating hell on earth. 

Given how we treat one another, the world, and ourselves, we are making hell right here on earth. Or perhaps, we believe all this is the work of the devil and his minions. But who are the hands of the devil? If not you and I?

In the same way, we can be the voice and hands of God, we can also be workers for the devil. But what we forget as Christians, is that we don’t need a covenant or a contract to be the devil’s hand. All we need to do is to fail in our duties to God. 

All we need to do is ignore the troubles of our fellow man, allow sin to run rampant. and don’t take care of God’s creations. Hell will come to us without us committing any ‘sin’. All we need to do is believe that we are not the problem and we cannot do anything to provide solutions. 

As children of God, we must be the light in the world

Can Heaven Be On Earth?

Instead of waiting for Heaven, perhaps we can create heaven on earth.

Granted it might not be as perfect as the one God created, but maybe we can recreate what God intended by living as He directed. After all; ‘Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world‘.

With the power of God, we should be able to reshape the world and spread peace, love, and joy by being merciful, loving, and giving. But can we create heaven on earth given that there is division in religion, race, and culture? And this division started long before the tower of Babel.

Even God has and will separate us according to our faith. He has also divided us by culture and laws. So how can we unite towards a common goal of creating a better world? 

We may not get Heaven, but we should be able to recreate the Garden of Eden

We Have the Power to Bring Heaven to Earth

Though God has separated us, He did so we can build our faith in Him. And when Jesus came, he gave us the strength to go out into a sinful world to convert sinners. However, many of us got lost in compromise and started putting more faith in things of the world and not God. 

As Christians, we should be able to be in the world but not of it. We should be able to dwell amongst sinners, but not live in sin. We have to build the light within us so that we can shine brightly in the darkness. 

Our lives need to be a living testimony of the greatness of God and the strength of faith. We cannot sit idly by and let sin run the world in the hopes of a Heavenly saviour. We should be paving the way by saving ourselves, the world, and as many souls as we can. Only then can Heaven come to earth.
